Make us a reasonable offer on this very unique watch from a very unique era for timepieces. Times were changing and watches were moving from the pocket/pendant to the wrist. This watch, made in 1911, is an Elgin "0" size Hunting Case modified to be worn on the wrist. I have not found any history on this type of watch but can tell that the conversion was either done by the Elgin factory or a skilled craftsman due to the exactness of the workmanship. The case is in mint condition and shows no wear at all. The color is perfect and all intricate details are outstanding! The hunting case lid was machined to expose the original glass crystal, which is perfectly clear with no scratches or blemishes. The crystal is set in a removable bezel that is covered by the hunting case "ring" when "closed". The "ring" is opened when the crown is depressed. The dial has Roman numerals for the hour markers all but the 6, which has a sunken remote second hand in its location. There is an outer ring of black slashes to mark the minutes with red arabic numerals for every 5 minutes, 5 through 60. The dial has no marks or cracks and is in perfect shape. All three hands are original and are in excellent shape. The case is marked inside the outer back lid "Keystone Watchcase" with their emblem and the number 8254869. The inner back lid is marked "Guaranteed 25 years", "J. Boss", and the same number 8254869. A wire lug has been added to the bottom of the case to attach a wristband that also attaches to the bow on the other end. The bow shows slight wear from the band. The wristband is a yellow mesh with a foldover clasp that is marked "Hadley", "Pat Pend", and 1-2012KGE, which I believe stands for 20 micron 12K gold electroplate. The band is in great shape, shows no wear or discoloration, and snaps securely in place. The clasp also has intricate detail on the outside. The movement is an Elgin 15 jewel with the serial number of 16675880, which indicates the watch was made in 1911. The watch was recently serviced and timed by our service department, keeps great time, winds and sets properly, and will be sold with our standard one year guarantee.
